Before launching NZ Building Developments in March 2017, Jason worked extensively in the building sector in residential renovations, new-home builds, commercial building and project management. His background in building goes back more than 20 years. Today, NZ Building Developments employs a skilled team of seven, with Shelby leading administration and marketing. Jason and Shelby, who have long resided in the rural Bombay area, live and breathe the realities of country living and know what’s required for new country homes and renovations. Word-of-mouth referrals continue to build momentum for their business. “We are still a relatively young company, but are already attracting repeat clientele,” says Jason. “For example, we did a subdivision for a developer two years ago and will be doing a duplex for him at the start of next year. “We built a 400sqm home for another client, who owns a civil development company, and he’s come back to us for ongoing work. “A client that we built a new home for last year has also recently come back to us for help in finding another rural section for their latest plans.” Most rural lifestyle properties also require a new barn or shed. NZ Building Developments has forged a good working relationship with Kiwi Sheds. This has paved the way to some special projects, including a unique collaboration that involved transforming an existing Kiwi Shed in rural Ramarama into a custom, double-storey, four-bedroom home, complete with macrocarpa and schist features and a modern kitchen and bathrooms for superb family living. “It was a massive project with a lot of engineering that resulted in an incredible forever home for the owners.” This year, Jason and Shelby have recently completed their own gorgeous home in Miranda, south-east of Auckland, as a showpiece for NZ Building Developments.
