Momentum Building BUILDING Cambridge based, the family-owned-and-operated construction company, Momentum Building, has established a reputation for meticulous building standards and commitment to customer satisfaction in the five years since it began. Founded by licensed builder Anthony Paterson and his wife Sophie, the company delivers high-quality new homes and residential renovations for urban and rural environments throughout the Waikato district – including Hamilton, Matamata, Morrinsville, and Te Awamutu. Anthony brings more than 16 years’ building experience to the table and is a licensed building practitioner and member of New Zealand Certified Builders. Raised in the rural settlement of Lichfield in the South Waikato, Anthony had a passion for carpentry from a young age and was often found in the shed, building all manner of things for friends and family. “I began my building apprenticeship in 2008 with JLN Builders in Tirau, and during this time I developed a strong work ethic and learnt to make quality the forefront of everything you do and take pride in your work,” he says. Following the completion of his apprenticeship at the end of 2012, Anthony and Sophie moved to Wellington, where Anthony began working for Holmes Wellington, specialising in high-end residential and light commercial work. He quickly rose through the ranks to become foreman and site manager on many new bespoke architectural homes. The pair set up Momentum Building upon their return from their OE in 2019 and now run their business and raise their two young daughters together. A standout project of late for Momentum Building has been the completion of Anthony’s own family home near the foothills of Maungatautari – a 277sqm, architecturally designed, five-bedroom home, perfectly situated for sun, stunning views of nearby hills and seamless indoor-outdoor flow for relaxed living and enjoyment. The house features large double garage and two bathrooms, plus large lounge with 4.8m x 2.4m slider doors opening out on to a large portico outdoor living area. The exterior of the pavilion-style family home is clad in striking Hinuera stone and Japanese cedar. “Plenty of sun and really nice indoor-outdoor living with plenty of space for the kids to play,” says Anthony. “We love it. It’s exactly what we wanted, and we worked in with our designer, spending time to finalise the floor plan precisely and to high specification.” Well-considered, functional and beautiful, the Patersons’ new home is indicative of the high-end residential portfolio they have crafted over recent years, providing clients with a bespoke design-and-build service that exceeds their expectations. Momentum Building can manage new home, renovation and alteration projects of every scale and they are experienced rural builders, having transformed ageing farmhouses into modern living spaces across the Waikato rural landscape. “Clients can often get more value for their money from a solid renovation of existing structures compared to the cost of say a new transportable home, which can incur additional expenses for site preparation, transport, and consent requirements,” says Anthony.
