Based in Papakura, the family-owned-and-operated pool construction and renovation company won the 2024 Gold award for Best Concrete Lap Pool for their stunning Dorset Street lap pool project as part of a wider residential renovation and extension in Westmere. “This lap pool offers a functional and sustainable outdoor retreat for a young family, combining fitness and relaxation while being eco-conscious,” says Auckland Inground Pools sales manager Donna Richmond. The project was not without its challenges such as a high water table and proximity to the boundary, but the result was a beautiful, space-efficient lap pool that fits seamlessly into the property. As far as Donna is aware, the award-winning lap pool is the first in New Zealand to incorporate the Hayward UV HydraPure system, an advanced water sanitisation system that provides the feel of swimming in fresh water while keeping the pool completely sanitised. “It’s probably the closest thing to swimming in a natural body of water, but it’s entirely safe and clean due to this innovative technology, which combines UV, ozone, and hydroxyl radicals to ensure the pool remains sparkling clear and free from harmful bacteria.” As well as the Gold award for best lap pool, Auckland Inground Pools’ four Highly Commended placings at the SPASA Awards, further demonstrated their ability to deliver top-tier projects across the construction spectrum. Auckland Inground Pools Ltd secured a Highly Commended in the Concrete Pool & Spa Combination Category for their Te Hihi unique and original backyard pool retreat for a busy, young family. The thoughtful landscape is scaled to the existing home and future-proofed for a pool house with accommodation. Their Puna Wai e Titiro atu ana ki te Ngahere pool was recognised for its seamless blend with the surrounding forested landscape. Dubbed the ‘Pool overlooking the Forest’, this project uses natural materials like pebbles and stone tiling, and was Highly Commended in the Concrete Pool over $240,000 Category for its sustainability and minimal environmental impact, whilst providing luxury and panoramic views of Coatesville bush land. They also excelled in the Concrete Pool up to $120,000 Category, with their Warnock Street Retreat. This project, which features unique New Zealand quarried paving and native planting, exemplifies urban pool design that’s as eco-conscious as it is stylish. “It became an instant hit with the homeowners and their friends, epitomising Kiwi summertime living,” says Donna.
