Red Developments T T Karen Phelps DEVELOPMENT From single homes to multi-unit developments, Hamilton-based Red Developments is rapidly establishing itself as a key player in the region’s residential construction sector, delivering high-end urban living solutions to meet growing housing demands. “We focus on producing a really top-quality product,” says Luke Robinson, one of the directors of Red Developments. “For example, we might put custom-made cabinetry in the lounges, grooved panels in the living space, high-quality fixtures, louvres on the front and exterior exposed aggregate. It’s these details that really set our developments apart.” Established in 2019 as a sister company to Apex Construction, Red Developments has quickly evolved from building single houses to taking on increasingly ambitious infill development projects. The company’s growth strategy involves focusing on one project at a time, ensuring attention to detail and premium quality outcomes. The company works closely with architects and interior designers to create functional, well-planned homes that meet the demands of modern urban living. The success of Red Developments can be traced to the extensive experience of its leadership team – Luke and fellow director Chris Fowlie, who are both qualified builders. They started Apex Construction in 2012 to specialise in renovations, before expanding into new builds and developments. The decision was made to separate the development arm into its own company and Red Developments was born. Both companies leverage their directors’ combined expertise of over 20 years in the construction industry. Luke says Red Developments maintains strong ties with Apex Construction, and this synergy allows the pair to keep all construction in-house, with their own builders handling every aspect of the projects. “Chris and I are on the tools as well, working to make sure everything is completed to a very high standard,” he says. The company’s latest, and its largest project to date, the Beerescourt Road development in Hamilton, showcases its commitment to sophisticated urban living. The development features four, three-bedroom, two-storey townhouses, ranging from 150sqm to 202sqm, with a concentration on maximising living space and maintaining highend specifications. Other past projects include five houses in Greenhill Park, which helped establish the company’s reputation for quality construction and attention to detail. Currently, Red Developments is making progress on a new corner-site project in Flagstaff, Hamilton. The Meridian Place development comprises two, three-bedroom townhouses, with completion scheduled for 2024-early 2025. Each 98sqm home features open-plan kitchen, living, and dining areas, complete with premium Bosch appliances and stone benchtops. On the other corner of the site, 113 Endeavour Avenue consists of a 141sqm, three-bedroom townhouse featuring a master bedroom with ensuite and walk-in wardrobe, double garage, and the same high-end specifications that have become the company’s hallmark. When it comes to materials, the company favours trusted solutions, utilising brick and Linea Weatherboard cladding on these projects to ensure longevity and minimal maintenance.
