Mount Maunganui-based Platinum Earthworks has established itself as a signi cant player in the earthworks and civil construction sector, completing several major infrastructure and commercial projects that showcase its capabilities and advanced technological approach. "It shows we have the right gear and the right team," says Damien Patterson, who founded Platinum Earthworks in 2018 after gaining many years of industry experience across New Zealand and Australia. From humble beginnings with just one operator and a digger, the company has expanded to a team of ve highly skilled professionals, including a fully quali ed drainlayer. Platinum Earthworks played a crucial role in the Rangiuru Business Park development in Te Puke, where it undertook extensive bulk earthworks operations. "We had to build a lot of large ponds. Getting past the water table and dealing with peat was very challenging," says Damien. Another achievement was its contribution to the Bayfair Flyover project in Mount Maunganui, where it conducted bulk earthworks and laid the pumice foundation for the roadways. The new yover will take State Highway 2 tra c over the Bayfair roundabout, separating state highway from local tra c. More recently, it has completed two substantial commercial sites for Seeka in the Bay of Plenty. "They were very large earthworks and drainage projects so it was all hands on deck," says Damien. The company's comprehensive service o ering includes earthworks, drainage, concreting, and retaining walls, providing end-to-end solutions up to concrete slab installation. Its impressive eet includes Hitachi excavators, John Deere bulldozers, and skid steers, all equipped with advanced 3D machine control systems that improve precision and operational e ciency. Damien says that one thing that sets Platinum Earthworks apart is its investment in cutting-edge technology. It operates with a GPS system called Unicontrol, which enables operators to work directly from digital plans on their screens, resulting in signi cant time and cost e ciencies while enhancing safety standards. Demonstrating business acumen and forward thinking, Platinum Earthworks expanded its operations to Gisborne when it anticipated a market slowdown in the Bay of Plenty 18 months ago. Currently the company is managing several housing developments in Gisborne, including 12-unit and 16-unit sites. "Gisborne is looking very strong, the next couple of years will be very hectic there," says Damien. Platinum Earthworks has built strong relationships with major industry players, securing work with prominent clients such as developers and large construction rms including Jennian Homes, Signature Homes, Higgins and HEB. Operating across the Bay of Plenty and Gisborne regions, it has positioned itself for continued growth. "We are currently in a growth phase and looking ahead to 2025 and beyond, we are excited to keep expanding," says Damien. With its proven track record on major infrastructure projects, advanced technological capabilities, and experienced team, Platinum Earthworks has established itself as a reliable and capable contractor in the earthworks and civil construction sector, ready to take on projects of any scale across the regions it serves.
