Steve’s wife Rach shares directorship of the design-and-build business, whose crew includes an in-house project manager, plus five qualified builders and four apprentices. The company’s focus on architecturally designed new builds and renovations has led to long- standing relationships with local architects. “We do have an architect that we use quite a lot,” Steve says, underlining the company’s strength in effective project management and working relationships. He’s a good operator, sharp with the paperwork and finances, keeping you to budget and keeping you informed along the way.” In addition to its diverse portfolio of new homes and transformational renovations, Ardent Building Developments are experienced builders for apartment and townhouse developments. “We’ve done a lot of apartments and duplexes over the years,” says Steve, including an own- development at Odette Street, Hamilton. “This is two duplexes with a total of four medium- to high-spec units, each with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and intended as rental properties.” Ardent Building Developments have successfully completed numerous one- and two-storey townhouse and apartment buildings, including Charlemont St, Ulster St and Bankwood Road. In addition, Ardent Building Development are equally capable of stunning new-home builds, such as the rural family home in Eureka they have recently finished. “This is a 230sqm family home for a working farming family, with four bedrooms and two bathrooms,” says Steve.
