Co-founded and directed by Aaron Burkhart and Morgan Corkill, the company has grown into a trusted name in steel construction for commercial, industrial and residential projects, earning top industry recognition and delivering landmark projects across the North Island. In recognition of is stellar rise, the company won the Best Emerging Business Award at this year’s Waikato Business Awards. Pact Steel had already earned an impressive list of awards. In 2024, the company took home two Deloitte Fast 50 Awards, including New Zealand’s Fastest Growing Manufacturing Business and Third Place Overall on the Fast 50 Index. We’ve got an estimating office, a procurement team, in-house steel detailers and we use our own trucks for transport. Plus, we do our own craneage and have two site crews.” Operating from its base in Ngāruawāhia, Pact Steel services the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Taupō, and Auckland regions. Indicative of this is a high-end residential development delivered with early contractor involvement for Shelly Bay Apartments in Westhaven, Auckland. A current project underway is fabrication for a 400 tonne, 8000sqm warehouse for Real Steel plate processors, who are building a new facility in Cambridge. Completed in May for iLine Construction Ltd was the structural steel package for a warehouse and office facility in Tauriko — a 171-tonne build comprising a 4000sqm clearspan warehouse, two-storey office block, and 560sqm canopy. Another successfully completed project is the Burgundy Laminex Facility in Taupō — a 900 tonne multi-storey steel structure forming part of Laminex’s new wood panels production plant. This involved custom welded beams, precast seating angles, temporary propping works and complex lift plans.
