| 91 BUILDING Lanta Construction: 11 Killarney St Church A full repaint externally and internally was needed, along with a new internal layout with a hospitality area added. “It meant stripping them right back to their original state, carrying out remedials and removing the extensive rust damage along with removing all layers of paint and damaged putty accumulated over the years. The timber windows also involved a full strip and redoing all the puttying, and cleaning and repairing any damaged or cracked panes of glass, including the etched and stained-glass features.” A full repaint externally and internally was needed, along with a new internal layout with a hospitality area added. The veneer panelling throughout the church has been restored, and the whole ceiling refurbished and repainted to match what it was. A complete rewiring of the church by Victor Contracting, including a new switchboard, heating, lighting and fire system, was a necessary upgrade to improve safety and comfort for users of the church. It’s a detailed and complex project with some scope change as structural issues have been discovered pushing both time and budget, explains church treasurer, Willie Townend. “Overall, the Church has approached the project with a determination to ‘do it once and do it right’.”
