Proud to be on the teamdelivering TraverseGroup projects Commercial I Industrial I Residential I Rural Karen Phelps Being a strongly family owned local business, Traverse Group offers a more personal service, says company general manager Kent Fearon. “It’s about trust, communication and a family company culture. We offer our customers a seamless cohesive experience,” he says. The group was formed in 2005, started by Kent’s parents Paul and Bitten. Together they oversee the companies – Traverse Property and Traverse Investments - and manage the growing team, which includes daughter Kari who takes on the marketing and communication for the group and Kent’s wife Kelly who manages administration and investments. The companies work both independently and as a cohesive unit. From sourcing and purchasing land, designing a subdivision and gaining consents, overseeing completion of earthworks and roadworks, through to sales to the end customer, Traverse Group manage every stage of the process. The family’s rural roots saw it initially develop rural subdivisions and lifestyle blocks. Now they also undertake residential subdivisions. It works primarily from Auckland to Kerikeri. Kent says that the company’s personal focus has seen it approached by landowners who want the company to transform the land into a great subdivision, from full purchase to joint venture or project management. The team also offers consultation services to help people to realise their land’s potential and offer knowledge and support so they can enjoy the development process. Kent says undertaking land development with the environment at the heart is important to the family, carefully balanced with the business approach. For example in its J Tolhopf Road development in Puhoi over 250ha of prime native bush and wetlands have been protected and the land that is being farmed is operated under superior farm practises. The company’s most recent project, which has now virtually sold out, is Te Maika Road at Ngunguru. Kent says that extremely high demand led to the early release of Stage 3 in the upmarket development. He says the location was a key point in its popularity. Positioned at the end of Te Maika Road it is just a few minutes’ walk to the best beaches in the estuary and complete with stunning views. Sites are accessed from a paved private road and right of ways and the subdivision will be completed with extensive native planting. “There have been no subdivisions in this area for some time plus it is only 20 minutes drive to Whangarei, so there was huge demand,” says Kent. Solan Drive in Waimauku, completed a few years ago, was another popular subdivision. Sites were twice the size of the average site on the market and as a result residents had plenty of space for the dream home. Kent says the right subcontractors always play a key role in the success of Traverse’s projects. “From accountants such as Lay Dodd Partners to working with Cato Bolam, our hand picked team are extremely important to delivering a high quality end result.” Kent says that when people choose to work with Traverse, both clients and contractors, they are guaranteed a personal approach. “We offer years of experience and a contagious passion for creating quality living environments.”
