For Timberlands, that includes biodiversity, waste elimination, our role in a carbon future, our role in the community, how we think about incorporating Te Ao Māori into a Te Ao Pakeha type world. “What new ventures can we get into beyond just traditional wood products and how do we look at eliminating predators and pests.” With the New Zealand Super Fund one of Kaingaroa Timberlands major investors (45%) profits are circulated back to New Zealanders and annual operating costs run at a quarter of a billion dollars, with most money spent locally in the central North Island. “When you start looking at the impact we have not only to Rotorua but to the wider New Zealand economy it is significant, and we’re very proud of that.”
