A new purpose-built workshop for Auto Super Shoppe Morrinsville means the company’s acclaimed A-grade servicing and electrical and mechanical repairs can now be undertaken with increased efficiencies, while customers wait in a warm and welcoming reception area. Auto Super Shoppe Morrinsville had been in its previous Anderson Street building for 27 years. Owners Allan and Penny Clark say after three years of operation, the building was expanded to meet demand from its growing base of trucking customers and by 2019, Auto Super Shoppe Morrinsville had grown out of its premises again. “We have been looking for a new site since then, but there was no land available,” Allan says. “In 2020 this plot at 91 Avenue Road North became available and from there it has been another three and a half years to get our new building completed. It’s been a long road but when we moved in in September, we thought it was fully worth the wait.” The new and improved Auto Super Shoppe Morrinsville is a fantastic looking building by Kelvin Lalich Builders and Waikato Sheds, and a number of other local businesses who all provided their best work to bring this project together. One of the biggest Waikato Sheds has ever done at 30x50, it was a challenging team effort to be proud of. Everything was big for the Waikato Sheds team. Tricky ground conditions saw the driving of many piles, then big PFC brackets coming out of the concrete slab to fix columns to, and big pits built into the concrete slab for getting underneath cars and trucks for service. Kelvin Lalich Builders was engaged for the fit out within the shed and the construction of the offices out the front. At the rear of the site is a brand new service for Auto Super Shoppe Morrinsville, a fully automated roll over Karcher truck wash with chassis wash. Instead of spending all weekend cleaning their trucks, drivers can take advantage of this conveniently located truck wash, open 8am to 5pm during the week and until midday on Saturdays. One seven-hoist car workshop and three 30m truck bays take up about three quarters of the building, while a further two bays at the rear of the building are for VTNZ, which has closed its previous one-bay Morrinsville facility in favour of the comfort and convenience of this new location. “If a truck fails its COF on its underbody requiring cleaning for inspection, we can roll it through the truck wash. And if it fails on anything mechanical or electrical, we can get it straight into the workshop.” The 6000sqm site holds a 1590sqm workshop and office. “We work with a lot of heavy truck and trailer units so we’ve now got plenty of room for turning and maneuvering on our site,” Allan says “The workshop is drive-through allowing a much improved work flow.” Auto Super Shoppe Morrinsville has been in its new workshop since September 18 and is already finding it work flow is smoother, and its customers are enjoying a clean, tidy, and beautifully fitted-out waiting area with the usual friendly welcome they have always received. Auto Super Shoppes is a nationwide network of 115 independently-owned workshops between Northland and Southland.
