Glenbuild BUILDING Auckland-based construction company Glenbuild has emerged triumphant in the 2023 Registered Master Builders House of the Year competition, securing prestigious awards for two of its outstanding projects including the National Supreme Renovation of the Year award. Under the leadership of owner Finn Glengarry, Glenbuild’s commitment to excellence and attention to detail has garnered the company recognition since it started entering the awards in 2009. The first project, situated in the heart of East Auckland in Kohimarama, was a masonry residence, exemplifying Glenbuild’s prowess in renovation. The project entailed a 60sqm extension with a gym and an enlarged kitchen-dining area with a new European kitchen. The existing side patio was given a new timber-framed louvre roof and hanging fireplace. All three bathrooms were renovated. Finn says the challenges faced during the renovation included the intricacies of working on a large-scale, three-story residence while the family continued to reside there – and all the while navigating the lockdown protocols of the pandemic to ensure everyone was safe. “The scale was challenging in terms of works from one side of the house to the other over three stories with multiple faces worked on at any given time. Large masonry walls had to be removed and steel beams used to create openings. As a result, myriad intricate services needed to be rerouted and bridging foundations placed over existing public sewer lines,” explains Finn. He says a high level of finish was required in the project for example polished concrete sills, handrail cappings, and other high-end finishes had to seamlessly match the existing standard of the residence. The National Supreme Renovation of the Year award was the crowning achievement for the Kohimarama project, securing Glenbuild’s position as a leader in the renovation sector across New Zealand. “Our relationships with our sub contractors and their commitment to our projects is really important in the results we achieve and they were a key part of this award winning project.” Glenbuild’s success extends beyond the mainland, as evidenced by their triumph on Waiheke Island. The 219sqm three-bedroom house, perched on a bluff with commanding sea views, showcases the company’s ability to overcome logistical challenges. Working on an island brought material and contractor constraints, coupled with the complex task of building on an incredibly steep site. “Our relationships with our sub contractors and their commitment to our projects is really important in the results we achieve and they were a key part of this award winning project.” Scaffolding Rental and Hire • Shrink Wrap Mobile Scaffolding • Temporary Propping 0800 589 600 www.getitupscaffolding.co.nz Our team is comprised of highly trained electricians in all types and sizes of Residential, Retail, Commercial and civil projects. Despite the challenging terrain, Glenbuild delivered a high-level finish that harmonizes with the natural beauty of Waiheke Island. Finn attributes Glenbuild’s success to a commitment to building strong, trusted relationships with clients. The company, founded in 1994 by Finn and his father Rob, emphasises transparency, integrity and meeting clients’ needs throughout the entire construction process. In an industry where precision and craftsmanship are paramount, Finn says Glenbuild stands as a testament to what can be achieved with a commitment to excellence and a team dedicated to turning visions into reality.
