Opened on August 9 by the Hon. Dr Shane Reti, Minister of Health, the Canopy Imaging clinic, Te Mauora, has been designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of the region. Previously, patients were required to travel three hours to Whangarei to access high-quality diagnostic imaging services. “High-tech imaging services in Kerikeri will provide access to a much-needed imaging option in the Far North,” Canopy Imaging group general manager Toni Sinclair says. “This initiative is not just about bringing advanced technology closer to home, but ensuring that our community has the best possible healthcare at their disposal.” Te Mauora is home to the northernmost MRI in New Zealand, housed within the façade of a 1950s’ classic Kiwi caravan; this playful characteristic helps reduce patient anxiety and enhance the overall MRI experience. In addition to MRI services, Te Mauora offers ultrasound and X-ray services, with plans to introduce CT scanning in early 2025.
