Opened on August 9 by the Hon. Dr Shane Reti, Minister of Health, the Canopy Imaging clinic, Te Mauora, has been designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of the region. Previously, patients were required to travel three hours to Whangarei to access high-quality diagnostic imaging services. “High-tech imaging services in Kerikeri will provide access to a much-needed imaging option in the Far North,” Canopy Imaging group general manager Toni Sinclair says. “This initiative is not just about bringing advanced technology closer to home, but ensuring that our community has the best possible healthcare at their disposal.” Te Mauora is home to the northernmost MRI in New Zealand, housed within the façade of a 1950s’ classic Kiwi caravan; this playful characteristic helps reduce patient anxiety and enhance the overall MRI experience. In addition to MRI services, Te Mauora offers ultrasound and X-ray services, with plans to introduce CT scanning in early 2025. The facility will also provide consulting rooms for complementary providers like physio and orthopaedic surgeons, and the ability to provide interventional services (steroid injections). At the heart of Te Mauora – a name gifted by local iwi Ngati Rehia – is the desire to become a community-centred collaboration, delivering accessible and diverse services with respect. Canopy Imaging’s partnership with Ngati Rehia is evident throughout the clinic, with woven harakeke wallpaper behind the reception and kawakawa wall decals and other thoughtful touches that honour Rongoā – traditional Māori medicine. And the kiwiana caravan MRI experience draws inspiration from the stunning northern beaches and the relaxed camping lifestyle synonymous with Kerikeri and the Far North. Having been a trusted provider of diagnostic imaging services for over 20 years, Canopy Imaging’s expansion of diagnostic services in Kerikeri cements its commitment to providing Far North patients with essential diagnostic services and healthcare options closer to home, reducing the need for Far North residents to undertake long-distance travel. Historically, this has been a significant barrier to accessing high-tech imaging services. “We are thrilled to be expanding our services to the Far North and to offer our patients access to state-of-the-art technologies and healthcare options closer to home,” Canopy Imaging operations manager – northern, Mike Williams says. “We are committed to providing the highest level of care to our patients and look forward to building even stronger relationships with the local community and healthcare providers.” Canopy Imaging is a unique, vertically integrated New Zealand healthcare provider comprising 23 diagnostic clinics, eight oncology clinics, a private breast surgical and diagnostic centre and a drug compounding business, making it the leading North Island diagnostic provider and the largest private medical oncology provider in New Zealand. 09 271 2117 or 021 228 5689 | sales@focusplan.co.nz | 106 St Georges Bay Road, Parnell, Auckland 1052 | focusplan.co.nz Healthcare Consultancy, Design + Fitout.
