Tauranga - ABC Rentals - Cars, Vans & Trucks T T Kelly Deeks REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT A new venture for owner Anthony Schriber, ABC Rentals - Cars, Vans & Trucks in Tauranga offers hassle-free booking and vehicle collection processes, and a team that goes above and beyond to make sure customers can drive confidently and comfortably away. Although it is a small business, with a fleet of 28 vehicles, including small and medium hatchbacks, 10- and 12-seater and cargo vans, and 10 to 20 cube trucks with tail lifts, Anthony says ABC Rentals has a solution for everyone. The check-in and return processes are quick and efficient to allow customers to maximise their time on the road. ABC Rentals goes the extra mile to provide trouble-free motoring and an economical and enjoyable experience for its customers, even when vehicles are required to go more than the extra mile. “If anything happens that means the vehicle is going to be late back, just give us a call and let us know,” says Anthony “What we’re trying to do is help people, and we’re flexible. If it’s just an hour late, we’re not going to charge for an extra day.” Anthony took over the business last November after about a decade in orcharding. After working his way up in the industry from harvesting and spraying to structural maintenance and frost protection, and seeing no more opportunity for advancement, he looked around for a suitable business for sale and found ABC Rentals. Anthony had been a previous customer and he knew the company had a great reputation for quality and service. Anthony is enjoying being able to provide solutions for all sorts of customers with all sorts of requirements. From individual holidaymakers and larger group trips, to business people needing a stand-in vehicle and people moving house, ABC Rentals always takes some time to get each customer acquainted with their vehicle, familiarising them with the controls, having a friendly chat if there is time, and making sure customers drive away happy and confident. “We just want to look after our customers,” Anthony says. “If we can’t help them, we’ll point them in the right direction. We want to make sure everyone gets a solution.” ABC Rentals looks after the local tradie community when their vehicles are away for service or repairs with the provision of reliable substitute vehicles that keep their businesses running. Some of these are regular bookings scheduled each year at servicing time. ABC Rentals also extends its support to the Bay of Plenty’s Good Neighbour charity, an organisation that provides practical support to locals in need, by providing discounted rates when cars or trucks are required. While it has been a tough year for businesses across New Zealand, and no different for ABC Rentals, recent cash rate drops hint at the possibility of more real estate activity upcoming. With more people moving house, Anthony sees expanding his current truck fleet of four as his first opportunity to grow ABC Rentals, and he is keen to take it when the time is right. His 10- and 12-seater vans are also very popular and often booked out for extended periods. Until he expands, he says get in quick to book a reliable economical vehicle over summer weekends, when ABC Rentals is booked out for three weeks in advance.
