Tauranga - Brunel Construction REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT In Tauranga, one of New Zealand’s fastest-growing cities, population – and appetite for new infrastructure, commercial and residential builds – is booming. Brunel Construction has been making its mark on the fast-paced, ever-changing Tauranga cityscape, and the wider Bay of Plenty region, since 2007. Greerton based, the company has built its reputation on delivering high-quality commercial, industrial, education, health and retail projects, as well as structural strengthening, civil works and fit-outs. It also supports the local economy by employing local tradesmen to carry out much of its building work. Commercial manager Kevin Hughes says Brunel offers customers a variety of procurement options, including a one-stop-shop approach. “We can work with the client from inception through to completion, covering all the stages in between including resource consent, budget estimates, concept designs, detailed designs, honest up-front pricing, building consent, construction, fit-out code compliance and handover. “Alternatively, we will undertake a competitive tender based on a design provided to them. Whichever process is chosen, we aim to provide a professional service with minimum hassles.” Brunel takes a collaborative approach to every project it undertakes, something Kevin says has driven plenty of repeat business and supported solid partnerships with specialist suppliers and contractors. “These relationships have been established over years through mutual trust and collaborative working, which leads to an extremely reliable and high standard of service. At Brunel, clients also deal with the owners of the company and not just an employee.” Repeat business resulting from those relationships is to the fore on several current projects. In Bethlehem, a new Harcourts Real Estate office building is rising up. Brunel Construction also built Harcourts’ 3rd Avenue/ Devonport Road office and its Dixon Road, Papamoa premises. The Harcourts projects are great examples of the one-stop-shop, end-to-end approach finding favour with clients. Benefits include vastly improved project cost, time and quality controls. “Brunel was engaged to work through the resource consent, design and building consent stages, and now construction,” says Kevin. “This is our fifth project on this short length of SH2, following the Pizza Hut/Sushi shop, offices next to Z Energy, Aspire Gym and offices behind the gym.” Brunel is also busy on the new Early Childhood Education Centre at Omokoroa for Bethlehem College, which will provide learning and play spaces for up to 100 children. The project follows on from the college’s new 11-classroom technology block completed by Brunel on a design-and-build basis. The relationship with Bethlehem College started at Bethlehem Baptist Church, where Brunel has completed various projects since 2011, including extensions, modifications and refurbishments. Kevin says he is proud of Brunel’s involvement in community projects, including the design and construction of the Mount Maunganui Surf Lifesaving Club, nestled at the base of Mauao. A collaborative approach saw the build completed within budget and location constraints, while maintaining Surf Lifesaving operations. PH 0800 FIRTH 1 FIRTH.CO.NZ NZ’s Trusted Name in Concrete.
