It’s a rare thing and a big milestone for any company,” says Nick Carter, one of the directors of Gibson O’Connor Construction. “All the owners are passionate about what they do, and we really focus on quality and delivering successful projects.” Nick says the company’s longevity stems from its commitment to building lasting relationships with clients and its collaborative approach, adding value at all stages of each project. Although now largely focusing on Auckland, it still builds nationwide. Recent developments showcase the company’s continued growth and innovation. Gibson O’Connor is putting the finishing touches on the Upper Waitematā Marine Centre at Hobsonville Point, scheduled for completion later this year. The multi-purpose facility represents the company’s involvement in community-focused projects, serving the rapidly growing north-west sector of Auckland with boat storage, restaurant facilities, and event spaces. The company has also recently completed a significant project for Metlifecare in Clevedon, encompassing main buildings and apartments, and has just finished construction of commercial developments in Hastings, and Tauranga’s Tauriko area. Another current project sees Gibson O’Connor developing nine commercial units over two levels in Mangawhai, ranging from 150 to 375sqm. Called Northbase, this development is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2025. Nick says the master-planned development is the first purpose-built commercial facility of its kind in Mangawhai catering to light industrial, commercial service owners and occupiers.
