It is great having something fit for purpose.” REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT As Adrenalyn Motorcycles approaches its 20th year in business, the Tauranga motorcycle destination is celebrating more than just a milestone anniversary – its striking, purpose-built headquarters has also been named a finalist in the prestigious Property Industry Awards, in the RCP Commercial Office Property Award category. For owner, Simon Horne, the recognition reflects years of vision, planning and collaboration to create a building that captures the energy of the motorcycle industry, while delivering a highly functional space for staff and customers alike. “This prestigious honour is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovative design,” Simon says. “There is no doubt that the building is amazing; it meets our needs so well. It is great having something fit for purpose.” Located in Tauranga’s Matakokiri Drive business park, the new Adrenalyn Motorcycles facility was designed to make an immediate impression. From the street, the building’s bold red aluminium composite panel facade, sharp architectural lines and full-height glazing create a commanding presence that stands out among neighbouring industrial buildings. Behind the dramatic exterior is a carefully considered commercial space tailored specifically to the needs of the business. Designed by Kirk Roberts Consulting, and constructed by Sabre Construction, the $3 million project combines a two-level showroom and office space with a large, 507sqm workshop and 75sqm mezzanine storage area. The 335sqm showroom and office space features soaring stud heights that immediately create a sense of scale and excitement as customers walk through the doors. One of the building’s standout features is the elevated motorcycle display system, with bikes showcased on racks that move up and down above the showroom floor. “The feedback from customers has been great,” Simon says. “People come in and immediately look up at all the space and the elevated motorcycles. The response has been incredibly positive.” The showroom experience extends beyond motorcycles. At the front of the building is a café area complete with a Vespa transformed into a coffee cart, reinforcing the business’s focus on creating an engaging ‘destination’ rather than simply a retail space. Upstairs, the building also includes a 220sqm co-working office area available for lease, further expanding the functionality of the development. Construction moved quickly once the land was secured, with the building completed in approximately six months. Simon says having a purpose-built facility has transformed the business and reflects the values he believes are central to excellent customer service. “Motorcycles are mechanical and have a lot going on,” he says. “You have to manage people’s expectations, be fair and reasonable, and always do the right thing.
