Karen Phelps D irector of Auckland company Central Residential Builders, Cody Webby, is a big believer in goal setting. It’s helped him to achieve success quickly with his build- ing company. “I like to say ‘yes’ to opportunities,” he says. Starting building straight out of school at age 16, Cody completed a BCITO apprentice- ship and started his company soon after in 2017. Winning Apprentice of the Year for the Auckland region in 2014 helped him hit the ground running and got his name out there. So rather than build up slowly with smaller projects Central Residential Builders has cut its teeth on some significant work such as the remodelling of a home in Pakuranga where a second storey was removed and rebuilt, the ground floor remodelled along with the interior. The company tackles renovations and alterations, new builds, light commercial projects and smaller jobs such as bathrooms and decks. Cody works directly with his clients resulting in an extremely personal service people appreciate. It also gives him complete control over each job meaning a high quality out- come. Cody came up with a solution that will see the clients shave thousands off the project. Central Residential Builders will add a small extension, renovate the interior and build a deck to enhance the clients’ enjoy- ment of their property. Central Residential Builders has also com- pleted some beautiful architectural new build projects including a recently completed replica villa in Onehunga. The replica early 1900s villa saw the team produce many bespoke features demonstrating true craftsmanship. The 175sqm home includes four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The convenient design sees bedrooms and living areas separated by a hallway. The owner, a graphic designer by trade, also worked on the build beside the team and offered many innovative design ideas, says Cody, including five skylights in the lounge where oak roof framing enters the interior.
