BUILDING 505 Construction A uckland company 505 Construction cel- ebrated its 10th anniversary last year in the middle of the pandemic. The knowledge, experience, craftsmanship, strong leadership and supportive team struc- ture has seen the company carve a distinct reputation in the market over the past decade, says company director and Licensed Building Practitioner Adrian Rowan. “If a building company is organised and efficient, then the client’s project will be too. We’re not just builders, we are experts in enhancing properties,” he says. Adrian Rowan brings 20 years’ experience in construction and 505 Construction was born after he started renovating a couple of his own houses in Herne Bay. Seeing the quality of the end result his neighbours started asking for help with their properties and 505 Con- struction was established in 2010. It has now grown to four site teams, five head office staff, a maintenance person and a civil fleet of four diggers and two trucks with two operators. Projects are nearly always from word of mouth referrals, says Adrian, whose role is to drive the team to meet targets and deadlines. He says a strong team culture with sup- portive Site managers who look after the site teams like their own family helps 505 Con- struction tackle any size and type of project for clients, no matter how complex. Strong, established relationships with subcontractors and effective budget control are the other in- gredients for the company’s recipe of success. 505 Construction offers the full build pack- age, assisting right from a client’s first thought of renovating or building a new house. “If people are not sure where to start – we can help. We have done subdivisions, developments, multi-units, shifted houses, renovations, new builds, and commercial fitouts. We have the knowledge, experience, staff and equipment to build from demolition to excavation to premium finishes. We prefer to get involved right at the beginning of the process to ensure the most successful project for the client in terms of budget, time and finish,” says Adrian. A complex renovation project in Auckland is a good example. Company project manager James Mail says 505 Construction was involved in the project from the design stage, working alongside the project team. The 120-year-old cottage was reconfigured and an extension added. The house had to be propped and lifted to create space underneath for a double car garage. Two large pohutukawas also had to be lifted with a 15 tonne crane during the process. James says the project demonstrates the high level of skills the 505 Construction team has and that it is willing to go to any lengths to come up with workable solutions to deliver the results the client wants. Another recent project demonstrating the company’s scope was a duplex development in Campbells Bay where Covid-19 meant a one-month interruption that saw the team work longer hours to keep on schedule to deliver the project on time. The company has also completed a four-apartment development in Soho quarter, Ponsonby, which was taken over from a builder that went into liquidation. This saw the 505 Construction team re-work the project to bring it up to code and get the team back on board to ensure the completion of the project. Other recently completed projects include a large house reclad and new joinery in Bayswater, where the team overcome the challenge of the scale of the build working for an overseas client. Adrian says that confident pricing with the 505 Construction in-house project manager and QS, and a driven team with wealth of experience in developments and premium renovations has seen the company grow over the past ten years and that it will continue to prosper into the future.
