92 | Collaboration key for that dream build Karen Phelps Although the majority of the company’s work is residential, North Homes also undertakes intensive housing projects, such as these two bedroom, two level town houses in Avondale. As Master Builders, the company can offer the Master Build 10-year guarantee, offering peace of mind and confidence during the construction process. Section North Homes N orth Homes has just opened a new de - sign studio with products and displays where clients can come and make decisions regarding their new home build. “We’re creating an experience where clients can come in and truly create their own unique home from the ground up,” explains North Homes director Philip Taylor. North Homes was started back in 2015 by Philip with this point of difference in mind. Across 25 years of experience in the indus - try Philip found that construction compa - nies were becoming too commercialised. Their one-size-fits-all service packages were restrictive and missing the personal touch that people wanted. With his experience and background in civil and structural engineering, Philip founded a construction service that could be tailored to anyone’s requirements to build their dream home. One current project demonstrates the company’s focus on quality and design is a 300sqm architectural build designed by LTD Architectural Design Studio in Silverdale. The project is being constructed on a cliff top in Whangaparaoa. North Homes has also recently completed a complex build incorporating multiple new technologies including a golf simulator, home automation features and solar panel. Philip says a truly collaborative approach between North Homes, the client, designers and subcontractors is the key to success for any project undertaken by North Homes. “We need to do more than cater to all budgets. So we offer an all encompassing support from a team of innovative minds and partnerships with a diversity of specialists to deliver our client’s dream home.” Although the mainstay of the compa - ny’s work is residential new homes, it also undertakes intensive housing projects, which are becoming commonplace in Auckland as land becomes scarce. One such example is a project the company is currently working on at 16 Cradock Street in Avondale, Auckland. Comprising six two bedroom two level town - houses, North Homes got involved after the design stage and had input into a few items that helped save costs and shorten the build time frame, including public drainage changes and the use of cassette floor systems. The project is due for completion early 2022. North Homes is also working with another client on five units and a large main dwelling in Matakana. It also has around 10 residen- tial homes under construction or due to commence shortly for various clients around Auckland.
