This has seen a growth in demand for its innovative local bulk liquid storage solutions used by farmers, growers, industry and other clients nationwide. “We were the first patented above ground modular (clip together) high-density polyethylene bulk above ground storage tank for water and dairy effluent in New Zealand,” says Fiona. “Since 2009 we have had steady growth into both the domestic and export markets. Our tanks can be seen in use for dairy effluent storage, wastewater treatment plants, trickle filters, bark filters, fire safety storage, community reservoirs, whey, mining, oil and gas, community water storage and even the movie industry. We are proud to be designed, engineered and built in New Zealand from quality New Zealand materials.” The KlipTank product is unique in that it is flatpack and modular, she says. That means it’s easier to transport to sites and quicker and competitive to install. It’s also simple to decommission and store if the need ever arises. Made from high-density polyethylene panels strengthened by galvanised wire ropes, KlipTank doesn’t require a concrete pad foundation, just a sand base. This means simple site preparation only is required. It is also the only tank that can sit on peat soils. The product is engineered for seismic activity for extra security. Located in Tauranga, KlipTank was started by Neil Peterken, the inventor of the product. Today it is owned by director Kim Henderson and NZNG Fund. Fiona says this has given the company a strong base from which to grow and KlipTank is presently preparing to increase its manufacturing capability to meet demand. It has a purpose built facility where it manufactures all products and employs a team of around 20 staff and growing. Significant investment is currently being made in the factory plant to increase production capacity and create efficiencies. “We were the first patented above ground modular (clip together) high-density polyethylene bulk above ground storage tank for water and dairy effluent in New Zealand.” Investment has also been made in staff to accommodate growth. “We see an escalating requirement for water storage solutions both in New Zealand and globally. In New Zealand regional councils are already starting to limit water usage at certain times of the year, growers are having restrictions on water take, more droughts are happening so water is increasingly precious.” Kliptank’s unique patented design provides the perfect solution for water storage including potable water, rain harvesting, wastewater, irrigation, fire protection and industrial solutions. Demand surges for storage KlipTank product can be used for the treatment, storage and processing of all types of water and by-product waste. Solutions start at 74,000 litres and go all the way up to 5,600,000 litres. A new product KlipTank hopes to release later this year will be aimed at lifestyle blocks and homes in remote locations and will offer an alternative to the standard residential tanks. “It will be an off the shelf product, also perfect for baches in remote and tricky locations. Customers have been asking us for a solution for some time so it’s exciting to be able to deliver it.” KlipTank also sees great potential in the export market. It currently exports to the Asia Pacific region but is currently developing relationships with markets in the Northern Hemisphere.
