Knowing that we are enhancing it -and not degrading it - is pretty awesome.” Russell notes that knowledge gained through the roll out of this ground-breaking project is in turn helping to shape a similar project underway at Fonterra Hautapu, where some of the same technology is being used to improve that plant’s wastewater treatment. Fonterra Te Awamutu is focussed on reducing overall water usage too. Looking at ways to re-use water out of milk is a big part of this. It is thanks to the local workforce, including tanker drivers and contractors, that the plant can operate successfully year-round as a busy dairy hub. Russell says Fonterra remains very conscious of its role in the town and the environment. “We do a huge amount of work with local iwi, council and community groups. “We regularly support local community groups doing regeneration work on Mt Pirongia or Maungatautari or stream projects in the local catchment area and help out with schools’ tree planting projects.” THE TRUSTED COMMERCIAL & RESIDENTIAL EXPERTS HVAC • REFRIGERATION • SECURITY ELECTRICAL • SOLAR • EV CHARGING PROUDLY SUPPORTING FONTERRA TE AWAMUTU www.rcrnz.co.nz 0800 STAY COOL enquiries@rcrnz.co.nz Contact us for: • Machine shop services • Tank Manufacturing • Laser Alignment • Stainless & Carbon Steel Fabrication • On Site Maintenance & Installations • Pipework and Dairy Tube Fabrication – (ASME IX & AS/NZS 2980:2007) • Scheduled Plant Maintenance; Dairy Factories, Chemical Plants & more Advance Mechanical Services NZ Ltd C: 021 3 3 0 3 57 P: 07 889 006 7 w ayne@ adv ancemechanical. co. nz w w w . adv ancemechanical. co. nz
