Summerset’s first ‘metro’ village is underway marking the group’s largest project to date. Demand has been strong for the prestigious new offering in a highly desirable location, says Summerset Auckland Construction Manager Stuart West. The St Johns village in Auckland is located on a 2.6ha site with spectacular views towards the sea, city and neighbouring bush and will offer a variety of apartment style living including multi million dollar penthouse options, a number of which have already been snapped up by purchasers. Stuart says three penthouses have already sold for around $6m. There will be seven buildings: a building with two levels of basement carparking, topped with two levels of common area including a gym, spa, swimming pool, hair salon, bar and café, and another four levels of 26 apartments including penthouses and premium apartments. Adjacent and linking to this building will be a six level Care Centre with memory care on the lower level and care suites and four levels of serviced apartments above comprising over 100 units. Stuart says that the village’s continuum of care ensures that residents receive the support they need as they age. “It’s a comprehensive approach to healthcare which provides peace of mind to residents and their families, knowing that their evolving needs can be met within the familiar surroundings of the village,” he says. There will be an additional five apartment buildings ranging from three to eight levels offering a total of 224 apartments and landscaped gardens, a bowling green, outdoor kitchen area and pond. Like all Summerset developments St Johns has a clear commitment to sustainability and community engagement. Stuart says independent living apartments will offer a wide range of floor plans to choose from including one, two and three-bedroom options plus premium and penthouse options with enhanced interior design and views. Stuart says the 2.5bedroom penthouse apartments will offer the ultimate in retirement residences with the very best of bespoke interior design and finishings and breath-taking views of Rangitoto and the city. They will include a large outdoor living area, external lighting, cooking area and wine fridge and come with two secure underground car parks with storage lockers. There is a sales suite located at 400 Remuera Road where people can take a look through the show home, complete with a kitchen, dining area and bathroom plus discuss the range of homes and floor plans and find out more about timings and releases. Construction is well underway and once complete Summerset St John will be home to approximately 400 residents. Stuart says the first residents will be moving into the main building and initial independent living apartment block later this year. Summerset St John is one of 17 villages under construction around the country at the moment including another metro project at Half Moon Bay in Auckland.
