Following a career in civil engineering, Eric Yu decided to follow his passion for commercial decoration and established Exmouth Flooring in April 2022, with a focus on the procurement of looringmaterials and their installation. “Duringmy High School and University years I worked for my uncle doing commercial decoration work as a part time job, and got to understand the business of commercial decoration. I really enjoyed that type of work and decided tomake it my life.” In the two years that the business has been operating it has enjoyed signi icant growth, due to its excellent management and decoration experience, taking on an additional business partner, and specialist team members. “In addition tomy business partner andmyself, we now have one site Mastery in flooring manager, two looring layers and three tilers. We are based in Northcote Auckland, andmainly operate throughout the Auckland region. Project Floors and Tile Depot are our core customers with a focus on commercial it-outs, but we undertake an increasing number of private residential projects for new homes and home renovation.” Exmouth Flooring operates in the area of Business-to-Business and Business-to-Consumer looring installation services for customised needs, as well as materials procurement and supply. “The looring is mainly the Click system including laminate and SPC looring. We also provide and install timber and vinyl looring and carpet tiles, which are glued. When asked what has attributed to his company’s rapid growth over the last two years, Eric’s response is just as rapid, saying it lies in continuous communication with the customer at every stage of the process. “That is both before and during construction, to ensure that the results are as good as the customer wants them to be.
