DEVELOPMENT Morne' Aucamp•0220706274•morne.aucamp@tmb.co.nz On March 1 this year, well-known and respected Hamilton car dealership Keppler Motors sold the business and site to Honda Store Waikato, part of Tauranga Motor Corporation, with Honda Store Waikato acquiring the recently opened state-of-the-art combined showroom, service and parts supply centre in Te Rapa, north Hamilton. Keppler’s association with selling vehicles in the region stems back to 1993, when brothers Sean and Aaron, along with parents John and Cherie Keppler, established the business with the vision and drive to provide customers with not only great quality vehicles but, just as importantly, the support of the best-quality servicing. Sean Keppler says uppermost in its establishment was the belief that families deserved safe, reliable and affordable vehicles, and that commitment certainly made its mark as the company grew to operate from five separate locations and add new vehicle brands to the suite. Work began on the building in September 2023, and one of the really cool elements to its design is that it not only delivers functional practicality for the team working in and around the centre, but it is also imbued with architectural treatment in its design and in the use of materials. Car sales and servicing centres aren’t usually associated with fine design interpreted through the use of materials such as Colorsteel, cedar cladding and aluminium. The new showroom was not only a first for Keppler, it is also the first purpose-built showroom for GWM and Haval in the country. Its workshop can similarly be described as state-of-the-art. With the acquisition of the business by Honda Store Waikato, the Honda brand joins the current GWM and Mahindra business. Along with selling new cars and hand-selected pre-owned European vehicles such as Audi, BMW and Lad Rover, Keppler Motors were also authorised stockists of new car brands Haval, GWM and Mahindra, specialising in utes and SUVs. Sean says one of the reasons why the business has flourished in this very competitive sector is the attention to detail they put into every pre-owned car they acquire for sale on their car yards. He describes this commitment as a passion both he and Aaron inherited from their parents. Of key importance is that every car sold in the pre-owned space offers its new owner top value for money and performance. For Honda Store Waikato, the acquisition of Keppler Motors, now located in an area of Hamilton that has developed into a car retail hub, has brought the benefit of expanding the brand’s footprint in the region, and also, the key advantage of inheriting many of the company’s experienced service men and women, sales and support staff. Keppler’s core values of integrity, honesty, fairness, friendliness and reliability will easily transition into the new ownership by Honda Store Waikato.
