In order to be able to handle the volume and wide variety of work, Robinson Asphalts has 48 staff, more than 40 vehicles and trucks, and about 30 items of large plant, such as excavators and rollers. The company traditionally hand-laid asphalt or hired a paver when needed, but last year invested in its first paver, a CAT AP330. “I believe we are the only ones in Whangarei with an asphalt paver. The bigger contractors generally bring them up from Auckland.
