This new partnership allows the company to offer full Certificate of Fitness (CoF) testing directly from its Bainbridge Avenue premises, solidifying its one-stop-shop status for transport operators across the Bay of Plenty. Family owned and operated by Paul and Theresa Cooknell since 2019, Transport Services Te Puke is an experienced team of diesel specialists offering full mechanical services, repairs, and maintenance, CoF and WoF testing, truck and trailer diagnostics and mobile breakdown support. With the addition of TED’s Testing Station, Transport Services Te Puke has become a onestop-shop for mechanical service, repairs and certifications. “This means our customers can now bring their vehicles in for a CoF, and if there are any issues, we can fix them right here, get them retested, and have them road-ready without them needing to go anywhere else,” says co-owner Theresa. It’s a huge convenience and time saver for busy transport operators across the Bay of Plenty region. With TED’s Testing Station operating within the Cooknells’ workshop, it can now offer CoF A and B, heavy PSV testing, vehicle assessments, brake checks, trailer inspections, all under one roof. WOF testing is still done by Transport Services to complete the service. TED’s is independently owned, and now has five testing stations including Transport Services, covering the wider BOP area and Gisborne. This ensures that Transport Services Te Puke remains impartial as a repair agent, while still enhancing the service experience. “With a lot of our local customers we can go and fetch their vehicles, bring it in and get it done and sorted and deliver it back to them, all ready to go,” says Theresa. The testing station addition follows the recent acquirement of TNT Engineering in December 2023. The move means customers needing structural repair, such as chassis or towing issues, can have certified engineering work done on-site. “That’s been a real game-changer also,” says Theresa. “We now have a certified engineer here who can do the job and get it all recertified without the vehicle needing to be moved elsewhere. It’s about making things easier and more efficient for our customers.” The workshop specialises in heavy diesel repairs using the latest diagnostic tools. Their service area stretches beyond Te Puke to cover the wider BOP region. “We also provide repair services for trucks inspected by the Paengaroa CVIU (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Unit)” says Theresa. “We can get them repaired and back on the road again.” With a reputation for quality workmanship and strong customer relations, Transport Services Te Puke has grown into a team of 12, including qualified diesel mechanics and engineers.
