The Auckland-based firm, which emerged as an extension of the historic quantity surveying practice Kingston Partners in 2015, attributes its success to fostering strong relationships between clients, consultants and contractors. “Construction is a complex beast. What sets us apart is our ability to problem solve and risk mitigate. We always work with the team to resolve any issues that might crop up on a project,” explains Rene Lin, a director at Kingston’s Project Management. The company offers comprehensive services, from initial conception and feasibility studies through to final handover, working primarily with developers and public sector clients. It has established itself as a trusted partner that brings value to each phase of the construction process. “We are a very determined and friendly bunch, who like to help our clients to be successful, and ensure all parties enjoy mutual benefits from each project,” says Rene. This win-win philosophy underpins the company’s approach to project management, with a focus on creating outcomes that benefit all stakeholders. This collaborative mindset has enabled it to deliver award-winning projects across various sectors. Among its recent notable achievements is the Risland Albany development, a 141-apartment complex that received numerous industry accolades. Working alongside Leuschke Group Architects, Kingston’s helped realise the large residential project situated at the intersection of Munroe Lane and Don McKinnon Drive. ‘Leuschke Group Architects are very good architects to work with, and we have collaborated with them on a number of projects,” says Rene. The firm also served as project managers for 26 Aroha, a groundbreaking apartment block that achieved a 10 Homestar rating for its sustainability credentials. Rene says this innovative project represents a shift in New Zealand’s rental market, offering longer-term leases and community-oriented living. The four-storey complex features 13 self-contained apartments alongside shared facilities, including a communal rooftop space, shared laundry and an electric car. Kingston’s Project Management benefits from the rich history of its parent company. Kingston Partners Quantity Surveyors traces its lineage back to James A. Stewart, one of New Zealand’s first quantity surveyors, who arrived in Wellington in 1905. The practice has remained proudly independent, despite interest from international groups seeking mergers. Today, Kingston’s operates with a team of over 45 professionals across offices in Auckland, Hamilton and Christchurch, allowing it to service projects throughout New Zealand. The company prides itself on maintaining high professional standards and ethical integrity. “Our success stems from our commitment to exceeding client expectations, fostering collaborative partnerships, and implementing innovative solutions,” says Ben Tracy, director of Kingston’s Project Management. “What truly excites me about our future is our integration of innovative thinking and focus on sustainability practices into our approach in project management and help our clients,” says Ben. Looking ahead, the company aims to expand its presence across different regions of New Zealand while continuing to deliver innovative solutions for complex projects. ‘We are not afraid to think outside the box,” says Rene. “And we love what we do.”
