Strata is proud to be part of the project team for a premium new waterfront o ice development, currently under construction in Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter. The two-building upmarket o ice development by Orams Marine and Precinct has an enviable location at 164 Beaumont Street, overlooking Westhaven Marina. “We delivered the full structural and civil engineering design,” says Luke Price, Strata Director and Head of Commercial and Residential Projects. “That encompassed all the structural steel and concrete detailing, together with associated yard civil engineering works.” There were existing old structures in the ground that needed to be considered, and deep piles were required for these buildings due to the site’s soil type. “In addition, we had to be really careful about how we dealt with run-o to ensure that any rainwater going into the yard would be treated irst, before going into the harbour.” The taller of the two buildings – 164A Beaumont St, with four levels plus mezzanine – features a low damage seismic design by Strata, delivering next-level earthquake resilience. Strata Group’s involvement with this project began in 2019. It was paused for a time due to the Covid pandemic and then reactivated again last year. “It has been a great project for us – our irst major project in Auckland. We now have other projects underway there too. Last year, we did some redesign work to update the existing structural design in line with current thinking around o ice specs. There were some changes to ventilation and services, so our civil engineers needed to recheck design details too. We worked closely with RTA Studio throughout, as well as 22 Degrees.” Strata Group is known for strong industry partnerships, clear communication and a commitment to quality. Their team has previously worked with RTA Studio on other construction projects. Strata o ers a comprehensive set of services – structural and civil engineering, seismic engineering, project management, BIM modelling and coordination, and CAD draughting – to meet the challenges of each unique site and project.
