88 | Opportunity grasped at Mangawhai Heads Parkview featrures nine architecturally designed commercial units, including a cafe. Bramasole: Parkview Mangawhai Heads “The goal is not to create a row of units, but a place businesses actively want to be part of.” DEVELOPMENT With a longstanding connection to Mangawhai Heads, Brandon Gallagher saw an opportunity to bring a higher-quality commercial offering to the area. Mangawhai Heads has been enjoying steady growth for some time, and when Brandon identified a gap in mid to high-end commercial space, he says he decided to do something about it. The resulting design-led development — Parkview — is now well advanced in construction and on track for completion later this year. To fill the gap he saw in mid to high-end commercial space, Brandon worked closely with Wingate Architects to develop Parkview — a collection of nine architecturally designed commercial units, including a cafe. He says the development has been designed according to how businesses actually operate, not just for yield. “The goal is not to create a row of units, but a place businesses actively want to be part of.” The development uses high-end materials including metal cladding, polished concrete and exposed aggregate create a contemporary look, alongside a strong focus on sustainability. With no town water supply in Mangawhai, Parkview incorporates an on-site water catchment system, with up to 90,000 litres stored across multiple underground tanks. The louvres that define the building’s façade also help deflect afternoon sun, improving internal comfort while contributing to the overall architectural expression. The cafe is expected to be the heartbeat of the development, creating energy and bringing people in, so securing the right café operator is a key focus. The space is designed to become a central hub for both tenants and the wider Mangawhai community. Parkview is located directly across from the Mangawhai Activity Zone on Molesworth Drive, positioned between Mangawhai Heads and the village. The first tenant to sign up fits the vision well. Wolf Studios, a boutique Pilates and wellness operator, has secured one of the larger spaces. With a largely local project team working closely together, construction is progressing well, with scaffolding now removed and the development starting to take shape. Businesses are expected to begin moving in as construction completes, bringing a new level of commercial offering to Mangawhai.
