DEVELOPMENT I n a highly competitive environment, the hallmark of a successful business is the abil - ity to accumulate customers and for Auck - land construction company Axiom Projects that has been the foundation of its successful eight-year journey. “That’s a nice way of doing business,” says founder and Managing Director Mark Bower. With 35 years experience in the construc - tion industry, Mark has been a director in three previous Auckland construction compa - nies since he was 21. “Axiom Projects is built largely on very good relationships throughout the industry. For the last eight years all of our business has been negotiated—I think we’ve only tendered for one project since I’ve had Axiom. Our projects are either repeat or referred.” Earlier in 2020, Shaun Ryan and Shannon Steen joined Mark as financial shareholders of Axiom Projects. Delivering quality craftsmanship at a fair price, Mark says Axiom has been fortunate to have really good clients over the years. “That means you don’t have to keep your cards close to your chest. You can be open about what is going on and customers know you’re looking after their best interests. “Especially given that we own property our - selves we don’t like to see people waste mon - ey. You want to make sure money is spent in the right places and gets good results. So we treat a project as if it was our own and what we would do. People tend to respect that.” Based in Ponsonby, the Axiom Projects team operates predominantly around the greater Auckland region but also has several clients for whom they operate throughout the country, including all the Animates store fitouts. “Once you’re an Axiom client we don’t pick and choose—whether it’s fixing a door or building a new building and everything in between we will come and do it all. We’ve done a few residential projects lately, which have come out very well and praised by our subcontractors.” Axiom Projects is currently involved in two major commercial refurbishment projects in Warkworth. The first project is for Kowhai Medical Centre. A 25-year-old building on Warkworth Street near the town centre and opposite a new re - tirement village, the Centre is well positioned to offer a diverse range of medical services to the community. • Email: info@alitech.co.nz | Freephone: 0508 254 8324 Showrooms in Waihi and Hamilton | www.alitech.co.nz • ALUMINIUM WINDOWS & DOORS • RESIDENTIAL / LIGHT COMMERCIAL • APL ARCHITECTURAL SERIES • THERMAL HEARTJOINERY SYSTEMS Proud to support Axiom Projects A new roof, smartly clad in dark colour steel off-set with cedar features, new window join - ery and new services throughout will give the medical centre a new lease of life. A key feature of the refurbishment will be the excavation of the basement allowing for a four-stop lift and much needed patient convenience reaching all four levels of the building from the main entrance. Providing accommodation for doctors sur- gery, radiology, physiotherapy, chiropractor, and likely to be joined by a dental practice, the refurbishment project will be completed in the third quarter of 2021. Next door to the medical centre, Axiom Pro - jects is also transforming the previous Waitet - ama DHB building into a Snap Fitness Health Club, due for completion February 2021. “We’ve put a pharmacy underneath the gym,” says Mark. “That’s a new tenancy for a local pharmacist. The Medical Centre and Snap Fitness creates a bit of a wellness campus.” “You want to make sure money is spent in the right places and gets good results. So we treat a project as if it was our own and what we would do.”
