CONTRACTING Waterworks Irrigation W aterworks Irrigation completes a wide range of projects all over the Auckland region and sometimes further afield – even the Pacific Islands. With services which include irrigation, rain harvesting and filtration, water features and pumps, Waterworks Irrigation is a one-stop- shop for water solutions, says company owner Mike Bluck. “We are open to any type of project large or small,” he says. Waterworks Irrigation is also helping keep Kiwis working – not just by employing staff to meet demand for services but also in terms of installing irrigation and water reticulation systems for industries such as farming and horticulture including pumps, tank storage, trough layouts and systems for greenhouses. The company also designs and installs a wide range of systems for domestic properties and commercial lawns and gardens, sports fields, horse arenas and golf courses as a few examples. Mike says a key point of difference for Wa- terworks Irrigation is that it can complete the entire job from start to finish in-house, even outdoor lighting, giving great control over timing and quality of projects. Mike started Waterworks Irrigation in 1995 after working briefly for another irrigation company and seeing a gap in the market to offer customers more options. He is proud that he has built a talented team, some of whom have been with the com- pany for over 20 years. “Water solutions are a complicated task and require significant engineering,” says Mike. “It’s a real niche skill and so we train and nurture our team as we need the best in the business,” he says. The Waterworks Irrigation workshop in- cludes engineering expertise and capabilities in fabrication, welding etc to create items such as customised jet rings or water troughs, be- spoke water falls or even just detailed design elements. Mike says as the company just specialises in water solutions this gives expert knowledge in the engineering team in terms of manufactur- ing product for efficient water flow. Waterworks Irrigation also fixes and repairs systems via its dedicated service department. Mike says there has been increased interest in rainwater harvesting systems as Auckland experiences water shortages. “Collecting rain water is the perfect way to reduce your dependence on mains supply water. “Everything from washing clothes and dishes to bathing and flushing toilets requires large amounts of water and rainwater can be used for all of these things and more. “Set up costs more than pay themselves back in a short period of time,” he says. Waterworks Irrigation is a member of the New Zealand Landscaping Association and its expertise has been sought on some high profile projects. At present it is working on a water feature for the day spa of the Sofitel Hotel in Auck- land Central and another for the lobby of the Pacifica, where it has designed and is installing a spectacular wet wall. It is also the company of choice for Auck- land Zoo and is working on a fully automated irrigation system high-level landscaping pro- ject for the new Asia precinct. argondistributors.co.nz Supporting Waterworks Irrigation Ltd as a leader in agricultural and horticultural irrigation systems
