Navigation Homes Far North T Sue Russell N eil Simpson established Navigation Homes Far North in 2014 and with an extensive background in building be- hind him he felt that it was time for a change into a business in which he could use his former knowledge effectively. Based in the new show home in Kerikeri, Neil says it’s a competitive environment with the town and surrounds growing year on year. “We seem to have found our niche in the market of design-and-build homes rather than building our standard plans but do have a small number of house-and-land packages available. “We have a lot of clients come to us already with their own sections, but we are also happy to check out sites prospective clients are looking to buy.” He says he isn’t interested in building a large number of homes each year, but rather to concentrate his time and energy on the more bespoke offering. With all the activity and a very bright future with no sign of demand for housing slowing up Neil has decided its time to engage a pro- ject manager. “At this time I do everything myself and my goal in time is to achieve 10-15 great quality homes in any given year.” The show-home is a fine example of what Navigation Homes Far North can achieve in design elements. He says the home was designed specifically to show-case the type of construction and size that the market he is interested in is looking for. The show-home features three double bedrooms, walk in showers, an ensuite and bathroom, separate lounge, full butler’s pan- try, four solar powered opening sky lights and a large covered portico area. “Our clients don’t seem to be totally focused on the cost as opposed to getting a home, perfectly situated on a site that meets all their needs. “Most of our clients seem to be retired or are downsizing into what may be their last home.” Asked what drew him to the Navigation Home brand Neil says the systems and back- ing he has accessed are second-to-none. There’s also an element of sharing new designs between franchisees throughout the country. The plan too is to continue to build a show- home every two years and use it as a base to work from. “It’s the most effective way to demonstrate to potential clients just what we’re capable of building and how flexible and bespoke our designing process is for them.” “We seem to have found our niche in the market of design-and-build homes...” Proud to be the Bright Spark for Navigation Homes ONSITE ACCESS 09 408 0004 projects@onsiteaccess.co.nz Provider of: Scaffolding Edge protection Fall nets Site fencing EWP’s General hire equipment
