Franz Mascarenhas, Managing Director of Cordis Auckland, says that now that Auckland’s domestic borders have opened up, the hotel has been experiencing a surge in demand for forward bookings. “Cordis Auckland is now officially the largest hotel in terms of room count in New Zealand. The new tower offers an additional 244 premium rooms and Cordis suites, and combined with the existing hotel offering, the total number of rooms is now 640. Cordis Auckland also now offers New Zealand’s largest number of event and function spaces under one roof, numbering 18,” he says. The new Jade Room, a 400sqm events space, offers both natural light and a private outdoor area and is complemented by a new state-of-the art boardroom. Franz says the new Cordis Club Lounge on the 14th floor is the largest and most exclusive hotel club lounge in New Zealand. With stunning city and harbour views, it provides an exclusive retreat with complimentary drinks, canapés and a live breakfast station for made-to-order eggs. Constructed by Hawkins and designed by acclaimed New Zealand architects Jasmax and interior designers Space Studio, every detail from the room finishes and detailing to the art has been carefully thought out, to form a narrative that showcases the best of New Zealand at every level, says Franz. Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, mana whenua of central Tāmaki Makaurau, was engaged from the outset of the project and its input has shaped the theme of the hotel.
