The project was to accommodate FSNI’s existing operations and support its growth aspirations. Additionally, to encourage its one-team culture, FSNI decided to co-locate its head office with its distribution centre. The 15ha Landing Drive greenfield development comprises an 8,500m2 head office on a 2.8ha site with Hawkins as head contractor and 77,500sqm distribution centre with Macrennie Commercial Construction Limited as head contractor. From the outset a commitment to sustainable practices and renewable solutions drove the development, which was designed by Monk Mackenzie, says Mark. It incorporates innovative features to achieve a Green Star 5 Design-and-Built rating for the office’s base-build and fit-out. For example a 6,000sqm photovoltaic array was installed on the adjacent distribution centre’s roof, offsetting 100% of the office’s electricity needs and rainwater harvesting is predicted to supply 70% of water needed for toilet flushing. A driving principle for FSNI was to bring its people together in a workplace that cultivated collaboration, connectivity and wellbeing, supporting its commitment to being leaders in high performance and innovation.
