The company’s origins trace back to the early ‘80s when parent company New Image Group was founded by Graeme Clegg, as a direct sales and marketing business based around dietary supplement and adult nutrition, harnessing the benefits of colostrum to enhance the immune system. From a start-up company, New Image Group has evolved as a substantial business, turning over more than $300 million in annual revenues, with over than 95% of products for exports. Their Baby Steps brand has been in the market for 10 years, and is available in most New Zealand supermarket stores. With the purchase in 2014 of its own spray drying plant in Paerata, just North of Pukekohe, NIG Nutritionals entered the world of manufacturing high quality infant formulas, pioneering the formulation of goat milk in consumer products across New Zealand and globally. Paerata remains NIG Nutritionals’ primary manufacturing site, with brands in the market like CapriNZ, Baby Steps™ and Symbiotics™, while also supporting other customers with co-manufacturing capability for their own brands. A second site in Avondale is both GACC (General Administration of Customs China) and SAMR (State Administration for Market Regulation) registered, and is used to produce infant formula mainly for its Bioshine brand, and other powder products to the China market.
