| 83 INTERIORS Apex Interiors The complex ceiling system at Sylvia Park proved challenging for the Apex team with lots of heavy and custom made product. Rondo adds real value to projects by getting involved at the design stage so that clients know the products supplied will perform as required and meet all compliance requirements. Its technical expertise was recognised recently as the Sylvia Park Food Gallery project Rondo worked on won an Association of Walls and Ceilings Industry of New Zealand excellence award for commercial projects over $500,000. Rondo worked with Apex Interiors on the complex project to create an upmarket feel to the new food court area. The architect’s design included a combination of high-end materials and three-dimensional shapes. “As with a number of our key contractor partners, we do a lot of design work with Apex Interiors at a national level supporting both their QS team at tender time and their site teams during project construction,” explains Rondo New Zealand country manager Nick Molcisi. “On this project we provided assistance around the correct use of our ceiling system to ensure a compliant speci ication so the materials could be installed how the architecture and client envisaged. We really pushed the boundaries in terms of how the Rondo KEY LOCK® Concealed Suspended Ceiling Systemwas used due to the angle and three dimensional aspects of the ceiling.” Rondo KEY LOCK® Concealed Suspended Ceiling System is designed to produce a high-quality structure for a lush or featured inish to a plasterboard ceiling. It is available for non ire-rated and ire-rated applications, bulkhead, seismic and acoustic designs, and is strong enough to hold multiple layers of plasterboard. Nick Adding value with design says that the KEY LOCK® Ceiling System enables the mixing of primary Top Cross Rail and secondary components Furring Channel to increase spans, suspension ixing points and maximise structural design. He says providing cost-e ective designed solutions for complex projects is what Rondo does best. As with all the Rondo ceiling, partition and external framing systems, the use of Rondo KEY LOCK® Concealed Suspended Ceiling System on the Sylvia Park project, compared with traditional timber framed solutions, which require a lot of onsite cutting, ixing and screwing, saved the contractor a substantial amount of time on site also saving the client money in the process, he says. It’s an example of the collaborative approach Rondo takes, working with architects, designers, main builders and sub-contractors to ensure solutions work seamlessly on site and pricing accuracy. Rondo also works with clients’ onsite to address site-speci ic installation requirements that haven’t been captured during the design process. This provides quick solutions to unexpected issues to avoid delays to the onsite process. Because of the strict compliance industry demands Rondo takes care of and facilitates certi ication of its designs to ensure clients know all the necessary paperwork has been undertaken. Nick says, “For our clients this gives them peace of mind and they understand that by working with us they don't have to worry about any of those compliance aspects as that is part of our overall service o er.” It’s simply not worth the risk. rondo.co.nz
