Based on Versatile’s Parnell design from its Metro range, this award-winning home boasts executive and architectural style while maintaining a family friendly vibe. An H shaped pavilion style home, it features separate wings for living and sleeping with a sheltered, decked courtyard between the two wings. Versatile Pukekohe owner Wenny Lubbers says his firm builds every home to House of the Year standard, and this project was put into the competition for a couple of other reasons as well. “We knew people would like the pavilion style, and also we had this amazing client, a quantity surveyor, and working with this client was one of the main highlights of this project for the Versatile Pukekohe team.” The client knew what he wanted to achieve and he worked closely with Versatile Pukekohe throughout the project. “It’s always great to see a dream come together, especially when you’re starting from scratch, and we had a great end product,” Wenny says. “It’s nerve-wracking for us and for the client to put your house up for an award. It’s not only how well you build it, but how it’s designed, how it suits the environment, and it also judges the client’s style and their choices. We try to guide our clients, but it’s their choice in the end.” This project wasn’t without its challenges, being built through 2021 and multiple Covid lockdowns. Near the end of 2021 and the end of the project, a different kitchen crew was required since the original crew from outside the region wasn’t allowed into Auckland. Versatile Pukekohe was still able to hand the new home over on time, four weeks after the final lockdown ended. “We look after our sub-trade, and they look after us,” Wenny says. “We’ve been working with the same subcontractors and suppliers as long as I’ve been working with Versatile, which is almost 13 years. That is a good way to keep the quality and to keep our projects moving. Our subtrades all work together, managing their parts of the process. The plumber will install a conduit for the electrician, and the gib stopper will call the painter and tell them when it’s going to be ready for them.” Wenny is a qualified carpenter with a passion for building and a Bachelor in Building Environment, which covers everything from designing, engineering, law, and management, up to the actual building itself. He has managed many projects, from high-end new homes to commercial buildings, both in the Netherlands and New Zealand. He heads a close-knit team at Versatile Pukekohe, and they go out of their way to ensure their clients receive a high quality product and a fun and enjoyable process. “We try to be true to our name, with a comprehensive range of plans or a full design and build service so our clients can achieve the dream home that works for them. With our experienced team, we take pride in identifying the best solution to fulfil your building needs.” PLACEMAKERS PUKEKOHE (09) 237 0020 PROUD SUPPLIER TO VERSATILE HOMES AUCKLAND SOUTH EAST MT WELLINGTON | PAKURANGA | TAKANINI | PUKEKOHE SPECIALISTS IN ALL BUILDING WORK. www.diversebuilding.co.nz
