From its humble beginnings in 1989 with just four employees, it has grown to employ 100 staff, including highly experienced quantity surveyors, engineers, site managers, and specialist project managers. Originally focused on Auckland, the company has expanded its operations with permanent offices in Wellington and Queenstown, with projects in Taupo and Christchurch earmarked to commence this year. The company’s current project portfolio includes several significant developments. In Auckland, CMP has secured the Pompallier on Ponsonby project, a $150 million mixeduse development comprising apartments, car parking, retail, and commercial office space. Additionally, it is working on an innovative, 18-storey apartment building in Henderson, featuring an automatic car parking stacking machine reaching 20 cars high. A significant upcoming project in Taupo will see the company construct a six-level hotel in the town centre, which will become the tallest building in the area, surpassing the current maximum of three storeys. In Queenstown, the company is making progress on Junction Village, an ambitious project comprising eight buildings that will provide accommodation, retail, commercial office space, and car parking. The first building of this development has already been completed. Andrew says the company’s success is built on its commitment to quality, integrity, and innovation. Its flat management structure enables quick and effective decision-making, while maintaining strong relationships with banks, developers and subcontractors. CMP Construction has diversified its operations through several subsidiaries, including CMP Living, which specialises in luxury townhouses and apartments, and CMP Interiors, which provides boutique commercial interior fit-out services. Its equipment division, Macrae Equipment, has been operating since 2010, and provides heavy-duty plant across New Zealand, specialising in tower and mobile cranes.
