Business North March 2025

Waikato: Design Builders Waikato/Coromandel/Franklin REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Extending over three significant areas of growth in the upper North Island, Design Builders Waikato/Coromandal/Franklin is the largest company in the network. Managing director Jeff Marra says each region has its own unique character, demands and challenges for a residental design-andbuild company to work with, and keeps the team of five, based out of two offices, on their toes. “We have recently acquired the Franklin area in South Auckland, where significant residential development has been occurring. This includes demand from those seeking lifestyle properties, to homes built across a number of townships in the district.” He calls the team a “tight ship”, grounded with excellent systems and processes all Design Builders staff have access to. Jeff also says what Design Builders offers sits in a great space in the market, as he explains. “Because we carry our own architectural service in-house, and the efficiencies and value that creates, we’re providing clients who may not necessarily be drawn to using an architect, with the best of both worlds. We understand great design and we build what we design, using our fantastic subtrades, who know our standards and our reputation.” Being part of a wider group of builders, carrying similar philosophies also brings the benefit of access to exceptional buying power. Every project is a unique design, tastefully created to work for each client’s site, financial and lifestyle circumstances. “We also tend to work on sites that are more unique, which is the starting point for some inspirational design and interior design thinking.” Jeff started the business in 2010, so he has seen all the ups and downs of the residential build sector as these have unfolded. It’s built resiliance and a great understanding that the factors impacting builds are constantly evolving, creating opportunities and challenges along the way. “I think we will still go through 2025 with a slow recovery. With the reduction in interest rates we’re seeing more interest from the market as evidenced by views to our website and show home. This is very encouraging, but I do think it’s going to be a gradual process coming out of the constraints of recent years.” Jeff believes the boom in the building sector was too large and created problems within the industry that come with being too busy. “I also think actually now is not a bad time to be building. It is a lot easier to get better value now, with good suppliers and no delays.” Working with Jeff is a project manager who oversees builds, an operations administrator and a salesperson. He says the quality and experience of the team they have to deliver their homes is a huge positive in the company. “We’ve been fussy and we’ve been extremely fortunate to have a core group of subtrades who have been with us now for years, who have been part of many great results in the Master Builders House of the Year competition.” We believe in creating your FOREVER home. 45 Clem Newby Rd, Burbush, Hamilton 0800 e4 new zealand | 07 850 8222 o ce@e4.co.nz | www.e4.co.nz Proud to be working with Design Builders Waikato/Franklin Plumbing | Gasfitting | Drainage Laser Plumbing - Hamilton East 412 Grey St Hamilton East www.laserplumbing.co.nz M: 027 247 3836 E: hamilton.east@laserplumbing.co.nz
