Allflex Packaging T T Kim Newth MANUFACTURING Based in Auckland, Allflex Packaging Ltd (Allflex), an independent, New Zealand-owned- and-operated company providing leading-edge packaging solutions, has grown significantly since Peter and Kay Logan bought the business in 2016. With a focus on the food industry, Allflex works closely with customers throughout New Zealand to ensure their products stand out on the shelf and are packed correctly for freshness, safety and enhanced shelf life. Before taking up ownership of Allflex, Peter had carved out a long and successful managerial and marketing career working around the world with Tetra Pak, a multinational food processing and packaging company. “I came back to New Zealand to retire but then, when Allflex came up for sale, I thought it would be interesting to explore what I could achieve as a manufacturer, doing something in New Zealand and for New Zealand,” says Peter. His experience in working with a world-leading packaging company with strict corporate governance and strong processes is mirrored in Allflex’s operations and ‘on-time, in full’ approach, allowing for significant growth. “We have invested heavily in technology and equipment to make it more efficient, and we now supply from Invercargill to Kaikohe as well as into the Pacific Islands. What gives us an edge is that we are both flexible in what we can offer and have quick turnaround times.” Lifting the company’s laminating and laser perforation capabilities have both been key factors in growth over recent years. Peter has a keen interest in technical innovation and keeps a constant watch over the latest developments in food packaging. “We recently bought a stand-up pouch machine to match rising demand in that area. We are proud to offer a New Zealand-made option at a competitive price for products like cereal and confectionary.” Allflex employs a highly trained, experienced team that works closely with customers to achieve the best packaging solutions. Allflex makes both stand-up pouches and high-quality bags in line with custom requirements. With their state-of-the-art flexo presses and equipment, creating printed packaging is a cinch. Allflex supplies a variety of top-quality film types for use in form fill and seal machines, all of which perform exceptionally well. Allflex is also committed to environmental sustainability and can provide eco-friendly food packaging options if required. “We work with some of New Zealand’s largest produce providers, through to customers just wanting a small run of confectionery stock bags for the local farmers market. We treat all our customers the same – they are all equally important to us.” Peter and Kay are both passionate about offering the best in what is a fast-moving industry. Kay is the company’s trouble-shooter, working alongside their finance manager to tackle tricky tasks such as certification processes. “We treat our staff like a family. Most live not far from the factory in East Tamaki. We have a very genuine, caring team here. We have 17 staff in total and the core ones have been with us since we took over, or even longer.
