PROUDLY PARTNERING GLOBAL ENGINEERING LININGS, SPECIALISED COATINGS AND WRAPPING INSPECTIONS, MAINTENANCE PLANS AND SURVEYS PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROTECTIVE COATINGS THERMAL METAL SPRAY INTUMESCENT COATINGS SURFACE PREPARATION Auckland-based company Metspray's new purpose-built facility in Drury marks a new era for the company's operations. Metspray is a specialist in the application of a comprehensive range of thermal and liquid protective coatings for structural steel, steel parts, infrastructure, and assets in accordance with strict industry speci - cations and standards. The company employs about 100 sta over its facilities in Drury and East Tamaki, as well as a dedicated site team for onsite preparation and application of coatings. Whether a project is in the commercial, industrial, marine, oil and gas, or electricity industry, and regardless of the surface nish required, Metspray's extensive range of equipment and highly experienced applicators provide solutions for the most complex systems and speci c high-risk environments. The Drury facility has the ability to handle heavier steel than most other facilities would be able to with the 25-ton cranes at inwards and outwards. The East Tamaki facility can blast, prime, and topcoat up to 4500m2 of substrate per week, and Drury 12500m2. Optimal capacity will be a combined 14500m2; this represents a considerable increase, not only in the total volume of work that can be processed but also in the e ciency with which it can be done. Drury has six overhead cranes ranging from 6 to 25 tonnes, two steel grit blast booths, the larger booth at 30 x 5, a dedicated thermal spray booth of the same size, and over 2000m2 of spray area, while East Tamaki has three blast booths and about 1000m2 of open space. A special feature of the Drury building's design is its controlled atmosphere system in which the air ltration, humidity, and temperature are maintained at an optimum level to prolong surface preparation and accelerate the curing of a coating, while air drawn into the building is ltered to remove particulates. One example of the many signi cant projects completed by Metspray is its work at the New Zealand International Convention Centre, with Metspray doing a large portion of the onsite protective and intumescent coatings in accordance with the FPanz COP and applicable standards. The company is a member of The Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) Train the Painter, an internationally accredited coating applicator training and certi cation programme, created and developed by experts throughout the industry. "Our sta applying the coatings have to be speci cally trained for each product, so we need to always have those certi cates on hand; not just anyone can apply paint, especially with Intumescent paints, you have to have sta quali ed by the manufacturer to apply their product." Metspray o ers a highly experienced and quali ed project management team with a diverse range of industry expertise, as well as a team of certi ed inspectors and corrosion experts. "We are equipped to o er a range of asset management services, including coatings inspection and testing. We conduct surface preparation and coatings inspections, testing, and assessments using the latest technology." NEW ERA FOR METSPRAY
