We are going to deliver early, which helps the follow-on trades with their timeframes too.” REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Construction leader iLine Construction is continuing to strengthen its reputation as a trusted builder for large-scale packhouse and coolstore developments in the Bay of Plenty, with a series of ongoing projects for DMS Progrowers proving the company’s capability to deliver complex builds on time. iLine Group Operations Manager Tony Watson says the current project, a controlled atmosphere (CA) room for DMS, is set to finish ahead of schedule in February, thanks to careful planning and strong project management. “This is next door to the previous building we completed for DMS,” Tony says. “We did their packhouse and pre-cooler in 2022, then CA rooms in 2024, and now more CA rooms this year. The current build is 85 metres long, 56 metres wide, 4760 sqm in total. The challenge is keeping it airtight so the fruit doesn’t degrade, which requires specialist European technology for the sealing and doors.” Controlled atmosphere rooms remove concentrations of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen and regulate temperature and humidity to preserve fruit. “These projects have tight windows,” Tony says. “The CA rooms are needed at the start of the season, so we started in mid-June for completion in February. We are going to deliver early, which helps the follow-on trades with their timeframes too.” iLine’s track record is a key reason why leading packhouses keep returning.
