This was seen in action recently on the ANZ workplace strategy project in Sylvia Park Tower in Auckland. Company project director David Devery says the vision was to create a workplace of the future. He says the ANZ project presented complex challenges meaning collaboration became an even more important aspect than normal. Steel had to be craned in through the façade of the building and significant concrete cutting and removal was undertaken to make way for a new podium staircase. This meant closely working with Warren and Mahoney, The Building Intelligence Group, Beca and BBD to find solutions. A backup generator also had to be installed, which necessitated the re-cabling of me - chanical and electrical systems both within the tower and also affecting adjacent eating precincts. This saw Black Interiors devising risk mitigation strategies and closely liaising with affected parties as well as completing work outside normal business hours as required. “Close collaboration was not only important but essential,” says David. “We had to identify any issues promptly then liaise with contractors and come up with solutions to present to the engineering and project management teams. It was about be - ing solution rather than problem focused.” He says this resulted in high levels of trust, which flowed on to a great project outcome. The ANZ workplace strategy project was completed a month ahead of schedule and virtually defect-free first time. “Everyone on this project had a shared vision and I think everyone knew it was a pro - ject that would be something really special.” ʦlz ˇ˥˨˚ˢˢ˗ ʷ˥˜˩˘ʟ ʸ˔˦˧ ˇ˔ˠ˔˞˜ ˪˪˪ʡ˛˔ˬˡ˘˦˚˟˔˦˦ʡ˖ˢʡˡ˭ ˃˥˘˖˜˦˜ˢˡ ʞ ˆˠ˔˥˧ ʷ˘˦˜˚ˡ ʣlzʣʣ ʨlzʣ ʩlzʣ
