| 31 Waipa: Waipa Civil REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Each division of Waipa Civil has specialist staff overseeing projects. Theresa Read, team leader at NES Hire, Hamilton branch in She ield St, Te Rapa, says the company has grown in leaps and bounds, driven by intense demand for the generators, pumps and associated civil equipment, the company hires. “I think the whole civil sector here in the Waikato, in fact in all the regions we operate, has just got busier and busier. So many new subdivisions opening up and also upgrading existing infrastructure, all leads to demand for our gear.” Asked about the impact COVID has had on business, Theresa says, particularly in sectors such as the entertainment/events sectors, there’s been a big drop in demand. And over the years many long-term relationships have formed, particularly with infrastructure organisations such as electricity supply company’s and to established civil construction suppliers like Waipa Civil. “We’ve established a really solid reputation for delivering what they need on time to our clients which gives them the certainty that their project will proceed well. In this demanding environment that’s a real positive.” Head O ice is based inWaihi, and branches operate in Tauranga and in Auckland at East Tamaki. The Hamilton branch has a teamof seven, including admin sta , an electrician and apprentice, a mechanical serviceman and new driver. Often, given the nature of the project, the pumps and generators are hired out NES Hire – delivering with certainty for extended periods of time and before any gear leaves the depot, it has gone through an extensive servicing and checklist process. “We pride ourselves on the quality of the gear we hire; it’s what our reputation is built on so we put a lot of importance on ensuring it has all been serviced and is running really well.” NES Hire Ltd also operates a 24/7 breakdown/emergency service and should any gear issues happen out on site, the company quickly responds to ensure there is little down-time. Asked what appealed to her when joining the company ive years ago Theresa says the fact that no two days are the same. “I like the fast-pace of business that keeps the challenges coming and the skill-set of the teamhere is second-to-none.” When Business North spoke with Theresa, the February cyclone had played havoc and the phone was running hot. “At the moment everything is out. As things are coming back they are straight away going back out, so our systems have to be capable of handling this demand.” NES Hire also assists other hire companies with generators and pumps as demand surges. The company’s website www.neshire.co.nz shows a comprehensive list of the equipment available for hire. “We’re just a phone call away for contractors and those in the civil industry.” 0800 999 582 | 07 863 9200 PO Box 213, Waihi | 55 Consols Street, Waihi www.neshire.co.nz | info@neshire.co.nz 24 / 7 DELIVERAND SERVICE SAFETY FIRST, SAFETYALWAYS INNOVATIVE&CUSTOMISEDSOLUTIONS QUALIFIED&EXPERIENCED TEAM INDUSTRIES • Utilities • Infrastructure • Telecommunications • Emergency Services • Construction • Contracting • Civil Construction • Tunnelling • Mining &Quarries • Agriculture &Horticulture • Timber • Geothermal • Food &Beverage SERVICES • Service 24/7 • Contingency Planning • Emergency Response • Fuel Management Specialised power and pump solutions, working in demanding environments, is NES Hire's core business.
