North Shore Scaffolding CONTRACTING Servicing the Civil, Government, Construction and Residential sectors keeps the team at North Shore Scaffolding, based in Wairau Valley, busy and with the amount of current activity occurring, there is little chance that demand for the company’s products and services will slow down in the near future. Clifton Webb, Managing Director says that even through COVID, apart from the initial four week lock-down, the pace of work has grown. “We adjusted our operating systems and aligned to the health regulations governing our industry and created separate crews and once we had this in place, then business continued with minimal disruption,” says Clifton. Adjusting to this new ‘normal’ has created a lot more paper-work but with almost two years of the Pandemic on the clock the company’s systems have proven to be effective. North Shore Scaffolding holds SiteWise credentialling. The annual audit, Clifton says, gives themselves and their clients certainty that the processes are robust and effective in all sorts of situations. In fact their systems are so good that last year SiteWise awarded the company a 97% SiteWise Gold rating. “We were determined to reach this benchmark so did a review of all our systems and documentation. To receive this rating really reflects the quality of all our staff and their work.” The company, through Director, Tony Webb, is also a founding member of SARNZ (Scaffolding, Access and Rigging NZ). Formed in 1994 the organisation’s purposes include promoting best practice, upskilling and supporting members with latest regulations and technologies and give voice to those professionals working in the sector. “We continue to work hard to improve Health & Safety and to enable our clients TAILORED TECHNOLOGY MADE SIMPLE A Technology consultancy company that develops, manages and implements new software and business processes. Soon after it created further efficiencies by adopting Layher Scaffolding systems which enabled scaffolding to be erected quickly. “We introduced that system back in 2003. It’s the best there is, everything clips together easily, and it means that the time it takes to erect was substantially reduced. “Engineers love the system as they can easily confirm their calculations. This means we can do extremely technical jobs very efficiently.” Every component, in the ISO 9001 rated system, has its unique number, enabling parts to be matched and assembled quickly. Continually reinvesting in scaffolding is an ongoing reality and since April 2021, North Shore Scaffolding has invested $1.5million in more gear.
