As Australasia’s largest manufacturer of GRP doors, K2 Doors specialises in working closely with clients to deliver a complete turnkey solution. The company was the obvious choice for a customised door solution for the new Whakatōhea Mussels Ōpōtiki facility. K2 Doors general manager Brad Dennison says that the company worked collaboratively with the client, architect BCD and Form to deliver the right door schedule to meet the speci ic requirements of the facility. “We walked through and determined where they needed the doors and windows then worked out the right door, hardware and frame for the speci ic location and end user requirements,” explains Brad. GRP hygienic doors are a glass-reinforced polyester (GRP) moulded door that is used in areas where the highest level of hygiene is required. Brad says that a key feature is extreme durability meaning the ability to stand up to the harshest environments. The doors are waterproof and chemical resistant against most cleaning products, do not warp, bow or rust and the standard door range has lush glazed vision panels that have no ledges or crevasses that can harbour bacteria. High quality stainless steel frames were used; in this case 316 stainless steel, and the doors were fully itted with hardware. For this particular project all doors frames were custom pro iled. K2 Doors also supplied stainless steel interior hygienic windows for the project, which also used 316 stainless steel and were lush glazed. Brad says the success of the project was the result of the entire project team: “It was a great project involving a good variety of doors and windows. The team was very good to work with and everyone took a collaborative approach to deliver a successful outcome.” Based in Timaru K2 Doors was established in the 1990s and is a subsidiary of J.E Dennison Ltd, a family owned company started by Brad’s grandparents. Brad’s parents Jill and Gary are still directors of the company, sister Renee is a joinery designer on the team and brother Tim is the production and installation manager of K2 Doors and managed the installation of all the doors for the Whakatōhea Mussels Ōpōtiki project. Brad says the fact the family o ers over 50 years experience in the industry means a great outcome for clients and a personal service. The design team boasts a combined experience of over 120 years in the industry. “We understand that every job is unique. That’s where our experience and knowledge can assist with coming up with the correct solution. We go through every detail from frames to door leafs, hardware and installation to ensure we cover all aspects of a project,” explains Brad. As K2 Doors completes all aspects of a project this means a quick, e icient and cost e ective service. The highest quality materials are used sourced from around the world. This is combined with the latest technology, and high-tech machinery to ensure customers always receive the best quality doors. “We aim to build trusted long term relationships with our clients.
