Company owners Sheryl Hansford and Rochelle Jacobs both know intimately what Councils require when it comes to resource consents and resource management – they both used to work for local government. Sheryl has over 18 years of experience in local government, planning and the regulatory environment and spent 11 years as a resource consents planner at the Far North District Council. Rochelle has 10 years’ experience as a planner, specialising in resource consents for both land use and subdivision. She has also worked with the council policy department producing various plan changes and with the Maori Land Court providing planning advice to local iwi and hapu groups looking to build on whanau land. She has worked with various agencies to bring together developments under both the Resource Management Act and Te Ture Whenua Act. Sheryl says this huge combined experience gives Northland Planning & Development rare insight into the Council and government process so they can best advise their clients. By knowing exactly what councils require this means less delays and hold ups, says Sheryl. Northland Planning & Development o ers expertise in resource consents and Resource Management Act processes, for example submissions on plan changes or representation at a council hearing. It also undertakes a project management role to organise the di erent specialists and contractors required for the design and development of building projects and subdivisions.
