76 | A strong family focus from page 74 By listening carefully to the client, Arcline can get a good idea of the direction they want to take. Arcline Architecture ARCHITECTURE “We pride ourselves on having nice offices for people to work in and our team is all super friendly. We all work together collaboratively and Alan, Tristan and I make sure we keep the whole team in touch and interacting with each other over the various offices. It’s a welcoming environment where people can learn from each other.” Recently a team member said that when he was asking around locally about Arcline before he joined the team he heard only positive comments including that the company was “well respected”, says Trent. “That was really great to hear. We like to ensure we give great service and great results so positive comments are a real indication that we are meeting our objectives.” Arcline Architecture fully rebranded a couple of years ago and Trent says that has really opened the doors to greater demand for its services. “I think another point of difference for us is that our team has a building background, which sits behind our design thinking. We know what does and doesn’t work practically.” The Arcline design process starts with the client providing a brief and their ideas. Trent says this stage is particularly important as by listening carefully to the client Arcline can get a good idea of the direction they want to take and what is important to them when building a home. A site visit is the next step follows so Arcline can get a sense of the potential of the land. A sketch of the basic design gives room for plenty of flexibility and adjustment. While this is backed by all the latest computer aided technologies Trent says this preliminary sketch stage is really vital. “It’s an exciting phase because the shapes and sizes of space can be easily changed. So it’s a great way to ensure ideas are given room to develop as they need to.” A couple of recent projects give an indication of the type of work the team undertakes. A family home on the Northern fringe of Whangarei resulted in a classic, timeless design for a young couple- a perfect mix of practicality and style, function and form. While a two-storey home in the Blue Moon Rise subdivision at Langs Beach stuns from the moment people arrive. Comprising four bedrooms and two large bathrooms, the style of the home is ‘modern bach’ with the extensive use of ply lining inside making the home feel natural and roomy, while giving it plenty of modern character. Arcline is presently looking to employ an architectural technician/draftsperson and a project architect with suitable experience. Trent suspects perhaps architects have thought about making the shift north but think there are not jobs for them and they couldn’t be more mistaken: “We’re happy to help people shift here and they can work from whichever of our offices they choose. Housing is cheaper than the larger centres and there are no traffic problems. In Kaitaia and Kerikeri there aren’t even any traffic lights,” he jokes. “We’ve seen so many people shift to Northland from other parts of the country and there will be talented people from our industry among them. “We are always looking for great people to join our team so if you want to work with us then get in touch.” +64 09 392 0007 info@geologix.co.nz www.geologix.co.nz 13/2181 East Coast Road, Silverdale, Kerikeri Geotechnical • Environmental • Natural Hazards 3 Waters • Subdivision & Land Development Sustainable engineering for a sustainable future.
