Owned and operated by Jim and Del Gleeson, this Auckland-based building company brings a collective 45 years of industry expertise across new residential builds, renovations, and complex construction projects. “We felt it was the right time to establish our own brand,” says Jim. “Given our history, the reputation we’ve built, and the quality of projects we’ve delivered – from traditional renovations through to large-scale architectural builds – it made sense to step forward under our own name.” At Keystone Build, strong results are never accidental. They are the product of capable leadership, experienced tradespeople, and robust systems. The team includes three qualified builders/LBPs, while Del leads business operations and marketing. Jim focuses on sales, strategic growth, and overall project and financial management, ensuring the company maintains healthy workflows and strong budget discipline. “We take responsibility seriously. It’s about keeping the team busy, delivering quality outcomes, and making sure every project is managed properly, right down to the P&L,” says Jim. The company maintains a balanced portfolio of work. Alongside client projects, Keystone Build is progressing its own development of four new homes, to be brought to market when conditions strengthen. This allows flexibility, with smaller jobs programmed between larger builds, creating consistency for both the team and clients. Launching a new company with a wellestablished network has been a significant advantage. “We’ve had tremendous support from industry contacts and past clients,” Jim says. “There’s a lot of goodwill, and that speaks to the relationships we’ve built over many years.” For Jim, integrity remains non-negotiable. “You have to have ethics. Clear communication, transparency, and being upfront throughout the build process – that’s what builds trust.” Looking ahead, 2026 is shaping up strongly, with several substantial projects secured. “I’ve just signed a six-month project, which provides stability and certainty for the team. As a business owner, ensuring there’s consistent work ahead is a big responsibility and one I take seriously,” Jim says. Interestingly, Jim’s original background was not in building, but in electronics engineering and management. His experience in highend technical design environments shaped his attention to detail and appreciation for unseen quality. “Real quality is often what you don’t see,” he says. “That mindset transfers directly into construction. I’ve developed a strong eye for detail, and that’s critical in the type of work we undertake.” Over 14 years operating a successful franchise, Jim and Del refined their leadership, systems, and project management expertise; experience they have now embedded into Keystone Build Limited. The majority of work is within the new-build sector, though many large-scale renovations are effectively treated as new builds due to their complexity. With recent legislative changes regarding smaller dwellings, such as granny flats, on existing sites, Jim is also advising homeowners navigating these new opportunities. “There’s real potential with these smaller homes, but compliance and planning are critical. Helping clients understand what’s required, and guiding them through the process, is where we add value.” Among recent milestones are two significant waterfront homes in Hillsborough, challenging builds that will showcase the team’s capability and commitment to quality. As Keystone Build moves forward into its next chapter, the outlook is optimistic. “This is an exciting stage for us. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved and looking forward to delivering more outstanding projects for our clients,” Jim says. Proudly supporting Keystone Building
